The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE), undertook an initiative to develop of child-friendly, easy to understand, attractive and experiential learning materials to promote preventive and promotive health education among school-going children. The initiative will support health and wellbeing in view of the evolving health challenges among children and adolescents, including unhealthy dietary habits, sedentary behaviour, excessive screen time, inadequate physical activity and increasing overweight and obesity.
MoHFW has developed the “Guidebook for Healthy Organs and Their Care” and a pictorial book titled “My Health World” in Hindi and English. The materials include simplified visual representations and interesting learning content to create awareness on healthy lifestyle practices, balanced nutrition, physical activity, adequate sleep and reduced screen exposure among children.
The developed resources are intended to support schools, teachers, parents and communities in strengthening health literacy and promoting positive behavioural change through child-centric and participatory learning approaches. The materials can be utilized during classroom teaching, school health sessions and other experiential learning activities to encourage healthy living among children and adolescents.
